About

The Adult Learning Improvement Network (ALIN) brings together sector expertise to support research, evaluation and improvement in further education and skills. We understand the realities of teaching and training in colleges, independent providers, workplaces and specialist settings. Our work considers the perspectives of learners, teachers, leaders and employers, recognising that strong conclusions depend on evidence from more than one source.

We draw on a network of experienced education and skills specialists with expertise across vocational teaching, curriculum, inclusion, leadership and quality improvement. Project teams and methods are selected to match the needs of each commission.

Research approach: We start with a clear question, agree on a proportionate methodology, gather evidence from relevant sources and test emerging interpretations. We aim to produce findings that are credible, transparent about their limitations and useful to decision-makers and practitioners.

Where relevant, our work addresses consent, confidentiality, safeguarding and data protection through arrangements appropriate to the project.
